Hidden Beaks
Origin of the project: Little elves in the steel forest 🧚‍♀️

This is a spot-the-difference game in pencil line art style. Our protagonists are a group of cute little birds. You'll find these feathered elves in different cityscapes. How Many Can You Find?

Why choose line drawing to find differences ❓

  1. As a "find differences enthusiast" obsessed with details, my greatest joy is to find the subtle differences between two similar patterns on coffee-stained draft paper. But as an independent developer, art has always been my shortcoming - I can neither draw delicate scenes nor make complex animations. Therefore, the simple line drawing style has become the most suitable choice: it can not only ensure the output of levels, but also highlight the core fun of "find the difference".
  2. Pencil line drawings have the warmth of hand-drawing. The thickness changes of each line and the density of shadows hide secrets that you need to open your eyes to discover. More importantly, this style allows me to focus on designing more interesting levels without being dragged down by art resources - after all, the first lesson of independent development is to use creativity to make up for the lack of resources.

Thoughts on gameplay design 🤔

Pure hand-drawn map levels: show the scenery of different countries and cities. Bird manual: Every time you unlock a region, you will get local unique birds.

For you ❤️

Like the hand-painted style of Where's Waldo? Office workers who want to kill time on their commute. Don't like complex art, prefer minimalism. Casual players who are a little curious about birds.
